Show your customers that their data is safe with you.

Data protection officers have to oversee your compliance with regulation, provide advice and guidance, liaise with the ICO, maintain their own training and stay scrupulously independent. It's their job to make sure you process data safely, transparently and fairly, and to champion the rights of your data subjects.

Your data protection officer has a lot of responsibility

  • Many organisations must have a DPO; some that don't need to may choose to have one to reassure customers or staff

  • Your DPO must be independent - they can't be a senior decision-maker or involved in performing data processing

  • It's a professional position that requires appropriate qualifications and experience

  • You're required to give the DPO the right level of support, authority and ongoing training

  • How will you fill this role?
